Winter starts off with a surprise for the Meadowsweets. The gypsy drops off a lamp and I'm caught between excitement and depression, because the rules say i can't use it. I'm... not happy about that and not entirely sure I'm not going to break that rule. Not knowing quite what it was, Robert put it away in the attic.
The Meadowsweets are short on money at the start of the season, but luckily they've got all the fall's produce to sell. As soon as the fruit has been packed up into crates, Increase is off to find some customers.
I'm trying to keep the town fed entirely on grown food and fish so it's imperative that he sells to as many households as possible. The 'sell from inventory' mod I mentioned earlier has been a great help.
As he's selling the crops, Robert is packing up the larger produce of oranges and lemonades at home. They should be a great help against colds and overheating for the families that can afford a juicer.
Being a romance sim and rather low on his aspiration meter, increase has started paying more attention to the paper girl. Unfortunately he lost his 'have first kiss' wish between seasons, so it's been a struggle to keep him from going into aspirational failure.
It's lonely being the only servant in the household, kept apart from the rest of the family. The only one he talks to is Robert when they're discussing farming, and the maid when she can take a minute away from the housework.
He is so lonely, in fact, that a mysterious blue bunny has started to stalk him.
To make matters worse there aren't any men of his age and social class available for him to make friends with, but he does run into the Vicar while out selling groceries one day, and the two strike up a conversation. That's what Mr Graves is there for, after all.
They talk about his hopes to one day marry and reclaim his father's
farm. I'm hoping the church's Sunday picnics will help him meet some
suitable young women once the time comes.
Speaking of friendships, Robert invites Mr Akers over to discuss how their sub-farmers are doing, and to give him their Christmas present.
The rules say the wealthier families should give the poor gifts at Christmas. I've divided it up so the Professional families are responsible for the working poor, the Gentleman farmers for the subsistence farmers, and the nobles for the trade families.
In between being pregnant Constance is kept busy with Christmas preparations.
Being family-oriented, Robert is happy to help out with the children whenever he can. And here I made a mistake. I'd gotten it into my head that each sim was allowed one skilling object so I used the smart milk before i realized my mistake.
Another reason Robert had to help out was that Constance had a very difficult pregnancy and spent most of it on the verge of starving. it just goes to show how big of a difference a nursemaid is.
But in the end it's a happy result and she delivers their third child safely. Henrietta has brown hair and dark blue eyes like her siblings.
But despite Constance's rough pregnancy at the start of the turn, the Meadowsweet toddlers are doing very well. Both have learned to walk and use the potty, and that's about as much as I expect of anyone.
On the last night of winter, Peter and Constance invite Increase inside for Christmas Dinner. They'll probably stop doing hat once they have a bigger family of their own, but with just the three of them it seemed too cruel to leave him out in his shack.
And that's it for the winter season. Constance rolled up the want to learn parenting, solidifying her stance on child-rearing. We'll see how her children turn out.
