Georgiana grows up in the dark of winter, and Joy is about to start her real work as a nursemaid.
Her mother still isn't the nurturing kind and is kept busy with her own pregnancy, but Georgiana is doted on by her father and nurse.
Speaking of the second child, Diana goes into labour an afternoon early in the rotation. I cross my fingers after the unlucky deliveries we've had this rotation. but that's another good thing about having a nursemaid--even though Eric is at work, Joy can plead for her mistress's life if anything goes wrong.
This time it's a boy. He's just as pale as his sister, so I must have been struck with the first-born syndrome again, but the family is happy just to have an heir. They name him James.
As soon as I have more available servants in the hood I'm going to get rid of the butler. He's way too efficient and either keeps doing things he shouldn't (like caring for the kids or cooking at the wrong time), and he keeps getting stuck trimming the shrubs.
Joy proves she really does know what she's doing by teaching Georgiana to walk on her first day, even with the addition of James to the nursery. No-one is hungry, smelly, or passed-out on the floor. She's worth her weight in gold.
Diana shares more happy news with Eric over breakfast. She's expecting their third child! And her health is still looking pretty good. With the lack of a midwife, though, we'll have to start looking at some other options to keep the expecting mothers healthy. I'd prefer Mr Harrow to stick to potions rather than spells, but he could branch out into making juice.
After breakfast Eric makes a trip down to the bath house to hand out Christmas gifts to the poor families. There's just two households for now so it's no great expense. He gives them some lights that should come in handy. And possibly make the night screenshots a bit easier to make out.
Whenever she isn't busy in the nursery, Joy has been busy studying cooking so she's able to help out in the kitchen whenever Alec isn't up to the task. Now she's proficient enough to prepare the family's Christmas dinner. It's a lot of work, but could also mean higher wages for her in the future.
After dinner Georgiana is brought down to join her parents for the festivities, and witness her first visit from Father Christmas.
They spend the night exchanging gifts and singing carols.
Around the same time James grows up into a toddler. Joy is about to have her hands full.
Financially the Wormwells are still in a bit of a bind, but hopefully Eric's career will pick up soon. The Law tracks requires a lot of family friends, and frankly he'll have to wait for the neighbourhood population to catch up before he can advance.
