Rotation 1.7 Fall, Meadowsweet

The Meadowsweets are our gentleman farmer family. Honestly I'm not exactly sure what playing this family will be like, but I'm looking forward to learning. Unlike the Subsistence Farmers, the Meadowsweets' farm is focused on profit rather than survival, but the place has seen better days.

Their main produce are their prized lemon and orange trees in the orangerie out back. If all goes well they might even move on to some more exotic fruit in the future.

Robert is a 4-7-4-4-6  Libra (outgoing) and a popularity/family sim. He loves the farm and working on it, but unfortunately he doesn't quite have the head for business that his father had. Thanks to a disease that wiped out a good portion of their orchards, it's up to Robert to rebuild the family business or risk losing it.

His outfit is also a little outdated, but I like the idea that the Meadowsweets are a bit behind times and not quite as fashionable, or wealthy, as they should be.

His traits are loves the outdoors, hopeless romantic, family oriented, friendly, and green thumb.

Constance is an 8-5-5-0-7 Virgo (uptight but kind) and a fortune/knowledge sim. She doens't think it's proper for a woman of her station to much around in the dirt, but perhaps she'll be able to help her husband with the business side of things.

Yes, finally we're allowed to hire help--both NPCs and live-in servants. Constance being a salt-of-the-earth kind of woman will make due with the NPC maid and they'll get a farm hand instead. Ideally I'd like to hire more than one, but the rules state only one live-in servant allowed.

Robert wastes no time to get some crops started. The orchard trees will go dormant over winter so it's important to have something else to sell.

Although the Meadowsweets seem rather stern and proper from the outside, they are extremely affectionate at home and can barely keep their hands off each other. Warm hands behind closed doors, as they say.

The next day the farmhand arrives to help. Increase Hayward, older brother of Joy who works at the Wormwell family, will move into the little shack to the left that will hopefully be a stable for llamas some time in the future. He's going to care for the crops, garden, animals, and any other related tasks that come up.

Increase is a romance/family sim with a 4-3-5-7-6 Aquarius personality; well-rounded but on the shy and playful side. He's hoping that his wages from working as a farmhand will one day allow him to move back into his family farm.

His traits are loves the heat, green thumb, flirty, schmoozer, and animal lover. And his OTH is nature as well!

Increase's cottage is supplied with the bare minimum--a bed, sink, chair, and bookcase since he isn't allowed to use the family's. He also has a separate outhouse, but he is allowed to go into the main house to get leftovers from the larder any time he's hungry.

Constance and Patrick are having a hard time getting pregnant, and I'm having a hard time sticking to the rules of trying for baby constantly. I'd like to drop it down to once a day. That way I could have some variation with births in the hood, and maybe even give the women a break once in a while. It goes against the challenge but people did have a hard time conceiving, and keeping their babies alive, back in the day.

Increase could wait for the second generation to grow up, or he could try his luck with an NPC. I'm already playing a bit loose with the Haywards so I'm not above considering him marrying the maid when the time comes, if they're interested in each other. For now it's a good way for him to keep his social up, since he's rather cut off from the rest of the family. Robert is the only one he talks to, and even then it's mostly about the farm and his work-- hardly a friendship.

The lemons are ripe, and so are the tomatoes. I haven't had a chance to sell them yet since I'd rather distribute them to the rest of the neighbourhood than sell them straight off the tree/vine.

Constance is finally pregnant and she sneaked downstairs in her nightgown to write in her diary. she's dreaming about proper entertainment, but she's actually the only woman in the hood who hasn't had any trouble with her fun during pregnancy.

She was so late getting pregnant that I thought she might not deliver before next season, but just a few hours before dawn she goes into labour. And it's twins again! Even though neither she nor Patrick has the fertility perk.

The first born is a boy whom they name Albert, and the younger a girl, Sibyl. Both have brown hair and dark blue eyes. Progeny achieved!

And that's it for the first rotation. They pay §500 into Increases' account.
